Crew Briefing Before a Piece
Short, clear briefing so everyone knows the piece, focus, and calls. Builds teamwork and reduces confusion.

Instructions
- State the piece: e.g. 'We're doing 3 × 2 min at 28, 2 min rest.'
- Give the focus: one technical or mental focus (e.g. 'Legs in the water', 'Quiet hands').
- Say what you'll call: e.g. 'I'll call the rate; listen for the settle at 2 min.'
- Ask for questions: 'Any questions?' so everyone is clear.
- Confirm and go: 'Ready? Paddle to the start.'
Tips
- Keep it under a minute if possible; save longer discussions for the bank.
- Repeat the key number (rate, length, rest) so it sticks.
