Race Prep
Duration
10–15 min
Equipment
Cox box, eight

📋Instructions

  1. 1Agree the sequence: e.g. 'Five high at 40, build ten, settle to 34.'
  2. 2From standing still: 'Ready … row!' — first stroke together, then into the high strokes.
  3. 3Call the high strokes: count them clearly (e.g. 'One, two, three, four, five').
  4. 4Call the build: 'Build ten …' and count so they build length and power.
  5. 5Settle: 'Settle to 34' and hold the race pace; keep calls to rhythm and length.

💡Tips

  • Practise both sides (port and stroke side start) if your crew might race either way.
  • Record the sequence and listen back so you can tighten timing and clarity.
